I've always been really turned on by 70's/80's analog gear such as synths with many buttons and big old-ass nobs. I usually drag a moog or sequential along with me to a show...and rarely leave a juno-06 off an album. However the efficiency of a lap-top for file editing and play back is an ongoing tactic for my recent shows... Yet, the guitar, my first love, is a tool I still embrace on most of my projects, whether finger plucked or sound fuc#d through some effects. ..
What I bring to the party is most often in transit... Freestyle MC's? sure. Live drummers? Fun. Most often an original sound is what I strive for....
the search and the prize....

Im in the growing populace of play at home musicians. I use DOS based tracking programs that are very similiar with the production of music used on amiga and commodore 64s. I try and stick away from windows based software because it just feels very artifical for me. However I do plan on live performances in the future.
Staying original and keep true to the mood is very important to me. I stay away from teenie-bop trance (aka Alice Deejay type of music) and stick to stuff cold and scary or warm and scary, depends on the mood.

I like to bring a couple bank notes, just in case I feel like gettin a beer....
besides that, a calculator and a microphone will normally get me through the night.

dude, I'm really not into you bringing a calculator and a mic to a live show. i've been working on a game-boy and megaphone-show for the last 2 years and i feel you are steppin' on my skit for mad real.

You wish you had a gameboy! I seen you with that generic racing game galloob kid toy bullsh*t! And you only think you were rockin' it! That girl in the back was only swayin cuz she wuz about to hurl.... and she did.
I gotz my calculator wired up to some tone generating algorhythmic sequential mayhem you wouldn't believe. Blastin it thru 56 bit shining gleemed up tweakage.
I run my mic through some special pro-tools plug ins on my mac and back it up on a glyph firewire....
